Where else can you take to the floor, wrapped in one another's arms, cloaked in darkness and dusted with glistening spotlight, while sensuous beats take you far, far away? Where else can you laugh, really laugh, both with and at one another? Where else can you grow together, both emotionally and physically, while learning to do something new? It's on the dancefloor.
If you are a single (either in life, of just in dance) most likely your reasons to dance center around the desire to REALLY show yourself and others what you are made of! To attain an air of grace, confidence, and success that follows you off the floor and into your everyday life. To challenge yourself, your VIEW of yourself, and others view of you. To be something you always wanted to be, but never thought you could. All this and more, happens on our floor.
No matter how you come to our studio, as a pair, as a single, straight from work, or in between running your children around town, one thing remains the same: you leave a different person than you walked in. Maybe happier, with the flush of excitement and physical exertion on your cheeks. Perhaps prouder, of yourself, your spouse, or a move that you finally mastered. Maybe even a bit more in love, having had an uninterrupted hour to spend focusing on your special other. You are not only different, but better. This truth is the heart of each and every passing hour at DanceSport Carolina. Through growing staff and adding studios, that focus and vision has remained the same. Every lantern hung was with the though of someone dancing under it, and every teacher hired with the dream of sharing DanceSport Carolina's passion with the world. This truth is our heart, and it is WHY WE DANCE.

Bravissima! I haven't your eloquence, but I agree most assuredly! Movement has long held a fascination for me; back in college (in the prehistoric days), I took every dance course I could get into because of that love of Movement. I am so glad to be able to share the experience with my husband, so I am ever so grateful that DanceSport Carolina with your special calibre of instructors was there for us. We wish we still lived in an era of places to socially ballroom dance being common so that we could "go out dancing" with some frequency, so we are ever so grateful that DanceSport Carolina is there for us with the lessons, the group classes, and the After Dark dances--and that's not even counting the special events like the Big Band Swing Party and the Latin Dance Party and the Halloween Party ...!) so that have someplace to go to dance and celebrate life and each other! And to meet new people and make new friends, as we have so much in the DSC family. Thanks, DSC.
ReplyDeleteKathryn, It makes me smile that you would comment on your "lack of eloquence" and yet write such a beautiful and succinct tribute to dancing, DSC and your own personal dance journey. :-) You and Ed are woven so deeply into the fabric of who we are at the studio, we are honored to be part of your dance story (a romance for sure!).
