Class and Character

DanceSport Carolina's Elizabeth just published an article for planetballroom.com on keeping focused on the positive during the competition preparation process. Here at DSC, while we value good dancing, intense training, and dedication; above all, we value sportsmanship, conduct, and experiencing life's joy's through dance. We have always taken pride in the fact that we walk away from events not only laden with trophies, plaques, and medals, but with other studio owners, judges and pro's endless praise on the spririt of our school. While we can't put the ladder in our front lobby, make not mistake that it matters to us more than any prize ever could. We are firm believers that this spirit and code of conduct comes from the top down. From Thomas and Elizabeth's early days in the industry, to the way their staff is trained, and therefore, trains their students, there are two common trends: class and character. They were Tom and Elizabeth's legacy before DSC, and are as much a part of DSC's foundation as the bricks and mortar in which we dance! With that in mind, we wanted to share Elizabeth's blog article for planetballroom.com with you all, as a way of reminding you to focus on the positive in this crazy and exciting time of preparation. We'll see you at the Ritz!

  1. Hear, hear! Thank you for the perspective reminder, Elizabeth. Both this blog entry & the 'Backwards & In Heels' entry regard such marvelous perspectives on not only the dance competition, and even not only Dance, but on Life, itself! More people than just we privileged DSC students would benefit, and hence the world would benefit, from adopting more all-pervasive mindsets of Class and Character and Keeping Focused on the Positive, or: Experiencing Life's Joys Through Dance. ... Scared to death about our first competition (especially since an ill-timed rapid-onset knock-me-on-my-butt virus has robbed me of a few days of much-needed come-into-the-studio practice!)--it is, after all, our first . . . still, trying to hold onto these philosophies you instill through the very way you conduct the school . . . and (for the most part, except in the worst moments of panic ;-D ::winks:: ), Looking Forward To "Puttin' On The Ritz"!
